The Rank for $ales Weekly Newsletter

May 1st, 2004 edition, issue: 04-0261
Current circulation: 17,196
Editor: Serge Thibodeau

Hello again and welcome back! Wow, this week was a big one!! As most of you probably know by now, Google finally filed its long awaited IPO (Initial Public Offering) on Thursday. Those news, plus about twice as much as we usually get in a week made for a very busy week in deed.

In an effort to prevent this newsletter from going to 15 or more pages, there are some news of less importance which I have omitted in today's newsletter. You can however read ALL the news that happened this busy week by going directly to the Rank for $ales industry news section, or by simply visiting our new (and very popular) sister publication at Search Engine News.ca

Without further delay, let's get down to what happened this week.

The week started off with Google in the news (again!) when it said it had moved one step closer to its eagerly awaited initial public offering, choosing Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse First Boston to be lead underwriters, according to a published report. The IPO, widely expected to value the six-year-old firm at about $20 billion, would enrich Google's founders and early venture investors and give it a valuable currency for acquisitions as it takes on rivals Yahoo and Microsoft.
