Question:
Serge, thanks in advance for your help on this. We are a small search engine marketing firm with about 80 clients. I hope you can help us demystify this myth: Is it true that websites that participate in Google's AdWords (Google's PPC program) that it will help those sites get a better 'generic' listing at the same time?

We are having a major discussion here about this, and there are 6 persons here, including myself, which are equally divided on this subject.

Answer
No, it's not true at all. I get this question a few times myself. Although some people are tempted to think Google will prioritize or reward companies that participate in their PPC ad program (AdWords), this isn't true at all. In fact, to prove you I am right on this, I have seen many sites get top positioning in Google, while those sites never participated in any PPC program, not even Google's.

By the same token, I have also seen sites nowhere to be found in the generic (or organic) listings, while being listed close to the top in Google's sponsored listings, simply because those sites pay a fairly high bid price to be there.
